Umblebee is run by me, Sarah Phillips.

I started making things as a child, not having lots of money to buy new things made me think and discover ways that I could use old things to invent something new. Of course working in this way means everything I made was individual and I liked this. I even painstakingly hand painted my first car in a patchwork design in a bid to make something old and unremarkable into an object of interest!

 

I also love using fabrics that are of no use and making something really useful out of them. In an age where we throw away and waste so much I think it's important to try and use what we already have to make reusable items.

 

I trained in Fashion and Clothing in my teens learning how to design a garment, cut the pattern and then construct it. This has given me a thorough grounding in needlework but I have always preferred to work in a more random manner. This is why all of my products are individual, they come from my imagination rather than from a set pattern.
